Jill Scott feat. Paul Wall | So Gone (What My Mind Says)
This track right here though….man, listen. Got you gettin’ up making biscuits for breakfast.
The Roots feat. Jill Scott, Eve | You Got Me (Original Version)
I have nothing against Erykah Badu…at all…but I just think this original version is much better. Plus you have Jill on the track! It doesn’t get much better than this.
Jill Scott | Slowly, Surely
I believe that there exists a handful of songs that you can remember exactly what you were doing and where you were when you first heard a particular song. This is one of those for me. Matter of fact, this was the song that put me onto Jill Scott to begin with.
Now if I just could find a good quality instrumental to this song, my life would be complete.
Jill Scott | Slowly Surely
The first time I heard this song, I just fell in love with the beat and how the song flowed…but I wasn’t really paying that much attention to the words and the meaning behind the song. It’s funny, because I can remember the first time I heard this song…what I was doing…where I was…crazy right?
But now when I hear this song, I GET the meaning…and Jill speaks that truth.
“Slowly, surely I walk away from…that old desperate and dazed love
caught up in the maze of love, the crazy ‘craze’ of love…
thought it was good, thought it was real…thought that it was…but it wasn’t love…
I walk away from…self serving, undeserving…constantly hurting me love…
…I just don’t know where to go…”
I’ve been there Jill.
