This is one of those songs that flew way under the radar…and it had no reason to.  Granted, that I may have written off Method Man as a rapper after that Judgement Day album, but you can’t just act like he wasn’t one of the hottest rappers in the Wu when they were going strong.  Just the first few bars (along with Lauryn on the hook) is enough for me to love this song:

I’m gonna go ahead and say this right now…I don’t care what other people think…I like It Was Written MORE than Illmatic.  Sue me.  That album just got so many plays in my cassette player/cd player/mp3 player that its way too dear to my heart to put anything else above it.  And this is one of those songs, where someone can just hum like the first 3 seconds of it, and you already know what it is.  Classic.
